Abstract

Campylobacter fetus subsp.jejuni have been know since 1909 to cause disease in animals, however C.fetus subsp. ejuni as a cause of enteritis in human has been recognized only recently. Indeed when proper culture techniques are used. C.fetus subsp. ejuni as a cause of entefitis in human has been recognized only recently. Indeed when proper culture techniques are used. C.fetus subsp. ejuni is isolated as commonly than are Salmonella or Shigella species. The organism has been found in 4 - 11% of patients with diarrheal illness in Euroup and America, Although the infection has been not reported in Korea, The incidence is not know. C. fetus subsp. jeiuni should be sought routinely in fecal speciment from patients with diarrhea, Although isolation method were complicated in the past, this article explains how recent simplications of culture tehniques have brought the laboratory diagnosis of Campylobacter enteritis with in the grasp of every clinical microbiology that does enteric bacteriology.
